From a Veterinarian's Daughter to Building Mommy's Chicken
Growing up as the daughter of a veterinary doctor, I was privileged to always have access to good-quality chicken. I knew from childhood what healthy, hygienic poultry tasted like.
But when I moved to Pune for work and later started working there, things changed. Living alone, I often cooked chicken at home. The markets were cluttered, unhygienic, and the chicken sold was oversized, fibrous, and inconsistent. Special cuts were hard to get and after buying I still had to clean — it never felt like a consumer-friendly experience.
At the same time, farmers struggled too. Poultry was treated as a commodity, sold below cost, with no structure to value their effort.
That's when I knew there was a need for a holistic solution. And that solution became Mommy's Chicken — a brand built to serve consumers with hygienic, antibiotic-residue-free chicken while giving farmers fair value and better practices.

In 2017, with courage, a vision, and my family's legacy behind me, I launched Mommy's Chicken — a farm-to-fork brand that delivers premium, hygienic, marinated and ready-to-cook chicken right to your doorstep. Today, we've also stepped into the ready-to-eat segment, making quality chicken even more accessible for modern lifestyles.

How we got here
The Roots of Expertise
Dr. Mahendra Singh (father of Meghal Singh) begins his journey in poultry with Phoenix Poultry as a Technical Officer, laying the foundation of scientific and ethical farming practices.
The Spark of an Idea
Meghal studies Computer Science in Bhopal, completes her PG in Finance from Pune, and works at the Bank of New York Mellon. But her heart is elsewhere — in entrepreneurship and solving real problems.
Birth of Mommy's Chicken
The vision takes shape. Mommy’s Chicken & Foods Pvt. Ltd. is founded in Bhopal with a farm-to-fork model to bring the right size of the chicken which is antibiotic residue-free, protein-rich chicken directly to homes.
Early Struggles & Breakthroughs
Came up with their first retail store in the city .Building awareness in a Tier-2 city wasn’t easy. But word-of-mouth, hygiene-focused products, and a commitment to quality helped Mommy’s Chicken earn loyal customers.
The Game Changer
During the lockdown, we built most of our foundation because our backend was strong and our product was perfectly suited for the time. As consumer awareness around hygiene, protein, and biosecurity grew, we naturally came into the picture — since we were already practicing these principles well before the pandemic.
